A members-only electronic mailing, NYSPA's listserv is an added benefit allowing you to network with colleagues on a daily basis. It provides an on-going forum for discussion on important topics such as managed care, treatment and referral inquiries, and other professional concerns. E-mail messages are sent to a hub and redistributed to all members subscribed to the listserv.

NYSPA has many special interest groups and divisions, each with their own leadership board and dues structure. The divisions of the Association shall be representative of the fields of psychology. Each division shall, within its own area, advance the stated purpose of the Association. All actions of divisions must be consistent with policies of the Association.

NYSPA has many active committees that carry out a tremendous amount of work every day for the profession. Committees conduct research, attend meetings, represent membership on various councils and assist in recommending guidance and policy NYSPA’s Council of Representatives. Serving on a committee allows professionals to take an in-depth look and action in an area where they hold expertise and have a passion. For most committees service is for a three year cycle, there are a few that have a one year commitment. All committee members are approved by the Council and an effort is made for members to have staggering terms. Committees receive support through NYSPA Office staff and most meetings are conducted via conference call.

NYSPA's Friday Flash is a weekly electronic newsletter reaching about 2,000 psychologists and students. Topics range from industry news, association updates, health care reform and legislative facts. It is e-mailed to members each Friday.

The DPA Dispatch is published biweekly by NYSPA's Director of Professional Affairs.

Email is NYSPA's primary form of communication. Communications include regular communications such as the Friday Flash and the Event Menu, the DPA Dispatch, as well as ad hoc announcement emails ranging from topics such legislative issues related to psychology to whitepapers published by the association. When covid-19 vaccines were made available to psychologists, we emailed all members within hours of the announcement being made.

NYSPA provides access to a variety of events offered by risk management experts, attorneys and psychologists with expertise in a variety of topics provide psychologists up to date information on ethical, legal and professional issues.

NYSPA PAC is the only nonpartisan political action committee formed and governed by psychologists for the sole purpose of advancing our profession's political agenda in New York. NYSPA PAC is the vehicle informed psychologists utilize collectively to exert their influence, politically. NYSPA PAC collects voluntary contributions from psychologists all around our state and then distributes them to the campaigns of candidates for the New York State Legislature.
