NYSPA Convention Call for Proposals
NYSPA CONVENTION

The 2025 NYSPA Convention aims to bring together experts from both local and broader communities to explore the unique challenges faced by New York’s diverse population. With the state’s diverse geography—ranging from bustling urban centers like New York City to quieter rural areas upstate—this event will focus on key issues impacting health, mental health, and well-being across various communities.

While national issues are currently at the forefront, each state has its own responsibility to its residents.  The 2025 Convention promises to address issues of concern for psychologists working and practicing in New York, whether in a rural clinical practice, an urban public school, or as an organizational psychologist working with the myriad of businesses and professionals in our state.  We will explore current legislative issues, challenges specific to a particular region, or socioeconomic group, and raise questions about New York's future "state of mind."

We invite you to submit an abstract and contribute your expertise to this important conversation. Together, we can foster solutions that improve the wellness of New York’s systems and communities.

Deadline EXTENDED to Monday, April 14, 2025

This year the Convention Committee is interested in the submission of topics that are, along with traditional interests, also focused on the unique needs of those in our diverse state.

Some examples include:
  • The special needs of both urban and rural populations
  • State-wide initiatives for general and mental health
  • Creating inclusive work environments and cultures
  • Building and maintaining a practice specific to your locale and clientele
  • Promoting health equity
  • Organizational consulting and change in a fast-changing world
  • Expanding our scope of practice
  • What's new in legislation related to healthcare?
  • The varied cultural landscape of our sprawling and beautiful state
  • The mental health needs of law enforcement professionals in both high-intensity urban and less populated rural areas
  • Working with immigrant communities in a time of uncertainty
  • The specific needs of schools in urban and/or low SES communities
