The Committee on Ethical Practice is available to handle NYSPA member questions without cost. Psychologists may find themselves facing questions about the often-confusing application of the APA Code of Ethics and practice issues in their work. Questions such as multiple relationships, conflicts of interests, reporting ethical violations, discussing limits of confidentiality, range of competence, and conflicts while working within organizations or supervision, (to name a few), can be answered by this longstanding NYSPA Committee of seasoned veteran psychologists.

If you are a patient looking to submit a complaint against a NYS psychologist, please contact the NYS Office of the Professions. Beginning January 1, 2021 each Licensed Psychologist must complete 36 hours of approved continuing education courses for each triennial registration period. All courses must be taken from psychology providers approved by the State Education Department, on the basis of an application, fee and the requirements in Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations. Only courses taken from approved providers on or after January 1, 2021 are acceptable. More information regarding CE credit requirements can be found here. It depends. It is best to reach out directly to the State Board for Psychology of the state where the patient is residing to find out if you are able to provide services to that patient. Include the specific listserv you wish to join, i.e., the general member listserv, or a division or committee listserv, as well as your name and the email address where you would like to receive your listserv messages. Please allow up to two (2) business days for your request to be processed. If you are currently a NYSPA member, you are invited to join NYSPA Divisions.
