Whether you are an early career psychologist, in the middle of your career or preparing to sunset, practice development and developing strong business strategies are key to all clinicians. The following section will showcase policies and procedures for your practice as well as administrative links and topics to enhance and aide you in all facets of your business. Practice Alerts and Practice Guidelines for NYS psychologists can be found on NYSED's Professional Practice Page. Record Keeping Guidelines - NYSED's Recordkeeping Guidelines and APA Record Keeping Guidelines provide resources designed to educate psychologists and provide a framework for making decisions regarding professional record keeping. Duty to Warn - NYS does not have a Duty to Warn law. The exception is if you are employed with OMDD, OMH, or OASAS. If you work for one of these organizations contact the HR department of that facility. The recommendation from SED is that an individual may not participate in a crime by knowing it will be carried about and doing nothing. There is a responsibility to contact the authorities and then document in detail your actions and reasoning in the patients file. If you have questions you should consult an attorney. NYS Department of Education - NYS Laws, Rules and Regulations for psychology. Engaging in Telepractice "Telepractice" is providing service that is not "in person" and is facilitated through the use of technology. This link provides the NYS Guidelines on this practice. Advisory Notices for Psychology - NYSED Office of Professions offers Advisory Notices on information that is important to your practice, including new CE requirements. The link is updated regularly.
