The NYSPA Trauma SIG Presents Embodied Object Relations and the Process of Mindful Change Sunday, May 19, 2024
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET 2 CE Credit Contact Hours Approved Serge Prengel will provide a two-hour workshop for psychologists to help you add more of an embodied, experiential dimension to your clinical work. This workshop draws from Focusing, an evidence-based practice that lends itself to integrating experience. It will provide simple tools to deepen the client's process in a safe and respectful way, informed by neuroscience and a somatic approach to trauma. This is an interactive and experiential workshop that includes a live demo with a volunteer. *Please bring a stress ball or a rolled up sock or paper crumpled into a ball. This webinar will only be recorded for registered attendees. Speaker: 
Serge Prengel, LMHC
Serge Pregnel, LMHC is a therapist in private practice and a co-founder of the integrative Focusing Therapy training program. He was trained in Focusing, Core Energetics, and Somatic Experiencing. His work also draws from Systems-Centered theory. Serge's focus on mindfulness and integration is reflected in his book: The Proactive Twelve Steps: A Mindful Program for Lasting Change. He is also the co-editor of Defining Moments For Therapists and author of the whimsical Bedtime Stories For Your Inner Child. Over the years, Serge has been exploring the similarities and differences between different approaches to better understand how change happens. He has conducted over 200 interviews with therapists, Focusers, researchers, and mindfulness practitioners. For instance, see the Active Pause podcast and the Focusing Conversations series.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe at least one way that they can shift attention to their embodied experience.
- List at least two simple ways to deepen the client’s experience.
- Describe at least one way that this approach fosters corrective experiences / memory reconsolidation.

Information regarding earning of CE credits will be sent out to all registered attendees at the conclusion of the event. Please note that there is no additional fee for earning CE credits or receiving certificates. The program organizer will present two CE Attendance Codes, the first at the beginning of the program and the second at the end of the program. To earn CE credit, attendees must correctly enter the two CE Attendance Codes in the post-event evaluation, which will be sent to all participants at the conclusion of the program. Individuals arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of the program or leaving early are not eligible for CE credit.
