Research on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Effectiveness

CPP's January 2011 report to Council

Summary of CPP Activities: 2007-2010

 Information about CPP

To promote the practice of psychotherapy and address concerns that affect psychologists in New York State. Objectives are to provide a forum for discussion on how to sustain a successful practice and to identify trends in private practice.

The Committee on Psychotherapy Practice (CPP) began as a Presidential Task Force in 2007 under the leadership of Dianne Polowczyk, 2007 NYSPA President. She asked that the committee explore the current crisis in private practice and how NYSPA might work towards a resolve. In 2011, NYSPA Council agreed to make the Task Force a committee.

CPP works to advance the practice of psychotherapy as a viable option in psychology. The committee also works with other committees to be sure that psychotherapy is not left out when looking at current developments in the profession.
