Opposition to School Psych Licensing
Bill Passage to Treat Opioid Addiction

Attention Psychologists: Express your opposition to S 692-B Ortt/A 1132-B Rosenthal, an act which provides for the licensure of masters-level school psychologists, and disingenuously links the licensure of those professionals to the ongoing opioid crisis in New York State. Oppose this piece of legislation, which will only serve to mislead and undertreat the public as they look for qualified providers of mental health services.

Here are some guiding principles to keep in mind while preparing your letter to your Senator/Assemblymember:

  • NYSPA members should include their names and addresses (home or office) on their letter or emails to the legislators
  • Each letter or email from NYSPA members should be addressed to their respective elected representatives, or, in the alternative, to the Chairs of the higher education committees: Sen. LaValle and Assemblymember Glick
  • Additionally, due to recent amendments, the bill should now be referred to as S. 692-C Ortt / A. 1132-C Rosenthal

When sending your letters directly to your representative, please email a copy to Brad Pryba: Bradley.Pryba@jacksonlewis.com or Sara Wheeler: swheeler@nyspamail.org
