Presented by NYSPA's Division on Addictions

Co-Sponsored by the Concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling at The New School for Social Research

This conference will explore how clients’ experience of themselves and their addictions can change in treatment. We will reflect on the importance of language and labels as they apply
to our clients and our work and explore how treatment can address the fragmentation of self, which is a common consequence of trauma.

Presenters will illustrate how a new, integrated experience of self and identity can emerge from the clinical process. The shifting paradigms in treatment today that allow this kind of work to unfold will also be considered. Join us to discuss these evolving concepts and how we build our clinical skills to incorporate them into our work.
