Running Therapy Groups Online:
The Promise and the Challenge

Aaron Black, Ph.D.

Zoom Meeting

Pandemics have a way of forcing us to consider alternative ways to maintain the continuity and integrity of our therapy groups.  In this two-hour online workshop, Dr. Black will conduct a live demonstration group and then lead a discussion about how to work effectively with groups online. The workshop is geared for those who have never run online groups and those who do and want to sharpen their skills. It will cover such topics as basic technical details of online groups, their relationship to the group process, the online group agreement, as well as how the virtual environment affects group content, process, and leader interventions.

Dr. Aaron Black holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and maintains a full-time private practice in Rochester, NY, conducting individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, as well as supervision. His teaching and training activities include running training groups nationally and writing about group psychotherapy. He is on the governing Board of AGPA and is on the faculty at the Center for Group Studies in NYC. And yes, he runs groups online and has for some time.
