2018 Key Priorities

Posted By Patricia Dowds, PhD, Saturday, March 3, 2018

Dear Fellow Members of NYSPA:

I want to keep you informed about what I see as the key priorities in my role as president this year. Those priorities include:

  1. Leadership – We will work to demonstrate the value of psychology and its professionals in the state of New York. This is a priority for our members, our academic institutions, NYS's policymakers, and society at large. We need to position NYSPA as a leader. We must be a valued and visible player in the collaborative health care environment.
  2. Teaching and Learning – We will provide resources and tools for our members to support their practice of psychology, This will include effective and innovative approaches with easy access to resources. We will explore innovation and new approaches. We will create scholarships and continuing education opportunities for our members
  3. Service – NYSPA will use our members expertise and expand our programming to help a diverse and culturally competent professional psychology workforce that is prepared to provide care for all segments of the population.

Yes our plate is full. We need your continued support. Spread the word about all of the good work of NYSPA. We will keep you informed of all our members work. We will keep you updated on all planned meetings. I encourage you to reach out to your extended networks, forwarding NYSPA announcements and news to your colleagues and friends.

Your continued financial support of NYSPA through membership, sponsorship, participation in meetings and events, and making donations enhances our ability to sustain our mission and our programs. This is all, of course, inspired by and dedicated to you.
