Tom Coté, MBA, CAE
Tom oversees all functions and operations of NYSPA.
Tom joins NYSPA as Executive Director after holding the position of Deputy Director at the New York State Association for Affordable Housing. In this role Tom lobbied all levels of government for funding and regulatory issues, retained and recruited new members, created programming and dramatically increased the footprint of the organization within New York on the national stage. Prior to that, Tom held the position of Director of Government Relations for the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York, where he worked closely with legislators on policy issues for infrastructure and transportation development, as well as funding, construction, procurement, and small business matters. Before that, Tom worked for the New York State Assembly as a Legislative Director, working with lobbyists, not-for-profits, trade associations and policy makers on issues of healthcare, housing and social reforms. Tom has also held several posts on political campaigns for New York State Assembly and Senate, as well as United States Congress.
Tom holds a Masters of Business Administration with a certification in Not-For-Profit Management from the College of Saint Rose, as well as a dual bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric & Communication and Sociology from the University at Albany. He has also earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, awarded by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). Tom is a graduate of the Association Leadership Academy accredited by the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE) where he was also named the ESSAE Rising Star Award winner in 2012. Tom received the APA Division 31 Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Psychological Association Staff Member in 2016. Also in 2016, Tom was selected by ASAE as one of 12 scholars for the Diversity Executive Leadership Program out of a national pool of 700.
Tom has been a speaker and panelist on a myriad of topics in association management as well as an invited speaker nationally and internationally on youth leadership and inter-generational motivation.
In addition to Tom's position at NYSPA, he serves as Board Vice-Chair for the Empire State Society of Association Executives (ESSAE). Tom also serves as a board member of APA Division 31, the APA Committee of Executives of State and Provincial Psychological Associations (CESPPA), ASAE Young Association Professionals Committee and Joseph's House and Shelter in Troy, NY.
Jerry Grodin, PhD
Director of Professional Affairs
Dr. Jerry Grodin has a long history with NYSPA, being a member since 1991, serving as President of NYSPA in 2010, and leading many initiatives and projects as a committee chair, regional association leader and active mentor.
Jerry works with the Executive Director, the Legislative Committee Chair and our lobbyist to build relationships with legislators, their staff and state agency officials. He is available to participate in hearings, testify on behalf of the profession and serve on active committees to be sure that psychology is "at the table." Jerry produces a bi-weekly newsletter for members, the DPA Dispatch.
Diane "Dee" Fisher-Golden
Dee has been with NYSPA for over 25 years and has held numerous roles with the organization including membership, communications, information technology and public affairs.
As Associate Director, Dee reports to the Executive Director and maintains governance structure and communications. She oversees staff and manages the day-to-day operations of NYSPA.
Lori provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Associate Director. She processes membership and event registrations, manages NYSPA list serves, and maintains NYSPA databases.
Membership and Communications Specialist
Sara is responsible for assisting the coordination of NYSPA's social media profile, digital and printed communications as well as membership recruitment and retention.
