NYSPA has many special interest divisions, each with their own leadership board and dues structure. The divisions of the Association shall be representative of the fields of psychology. Each division shall, within its own area, advance the stated purpose of the Association. All actions of divisions must be consistent with policies of the Association.
A division shall be comprised of not fewer than 50 MEMBERS, as defined in Article VI, Section 4A. A new division may be represented on Council whenever 50 or more MEMBERS petition the Council of Representatives, indicating they desire membership in such division, and Council approves its representation on Council by a two-thirds vote. New divisions shall represent an active and functionally unitary or specialty interest in psychology, conforming to the purposes of the Association. The establishment of a new division must not be inimical to the interests and welfare of an already established division. Divisions are listed in RULES OF COUNCIL.
