NYSPA has many active committees that carry out a tremendous amount of work every day for the profession. Committees conduct research, attend meetings, represent membership on various councils and assist in recommending guidance and policy NYSPA’s Council of Representatives. Article XI of the Bylaws addresses the formation of Committees within NYSPA. There are three types of committees – bylaws, continuing and ad-hoc. Each serves a different purpose. Below are links to the NYSPA committees.
Serving on a committee allows professionals to take an in-depth look and action in an area where they hold expertise and have a passion. For most committees service is for a three year cycle, there are a few that have a one year commitment. All committee members are approved by the Council and an effort is made for members to have staggering terms. Committees receive support through Central Office staff and most meetings are conducted via conference call.
