The Division of Group Psychology and Psychotherapy promotes scientific, clinical and practice goals for group psychology and group psychotherapy.

The division works toward enhancing the efficacy and creativity in group psychotherapy to meet the needs for quality treatment of mental and emotional disorders in a humanistic way.

The Division of Group Psychology of the New York State Psychological Association, The Outreach Task Force of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and the NYSPA Disaster Response Network Invite you to join us for a unique program on group interventions following disasters and traumatic events like those that recently impacted our community including Hurricane Sandy and the school shootings in Sandyhook, CT.  
 
Healing in Groups: Understanding and Responding to Trauma and Disaster

This distinguished panel of experts from AGPA's Outreach Task Force will use both didactic and experiential components to highlight reactions to traumatic events in children and adults, the rationale for groups in post-disaster clinical work, specific group interventions and considerations, the special risks of caregiving under these circumstances and strategies for self-care.
